JoLynn C

Instructor

I love to cook & bake, I enjoy camping, hiking and have recently taken up running.

I have instructed swimming lessons for over 13 years. My favorite part of instructing is watching the confidence grow in a new swimmer as they build skills that they were either too afraid to attempt or never believed they could accomplish! I enjoy working with people of all ages, from children learning how to float and blow bubbles to adults just starting on their swimming journey.

My favorite skills to instruct are floats as it is typically the first skill swimmers try completely unassisted, and seeing the confidence boost of doing something on their own is always special.

I work full time as an Aquatic Supervisor in Shilo, where I plan and facilitate aquatic programming, train and schedule aquatic staff.

My certifications include:

- Swim for Life Instructor

- National Lifeguard

Kammi S.

Instructor

My hometown is Neepawa, Manitoba. I love traveling, shopping and staying active. I enjoy spending time with my favourite people and doing things that keep me busy.

I have a strong passion for swimming and have been swimming for as long as I can remember. I did competitive swimming for 8 years and completed my swimming lessons/lifeguarding courses. I took an interest in becoming a lifeguard at a very young age as I grew up coming to the Neepawa pool everyday during the summer. I’ve been working at the Neepawa Pool for 3 years now. It has been such a great experience!

I recently moved to Brandon to pursue my dreams of becoming a nurse. I’m entering my first year of nursing at Brandon University.

I have a blast getting to teach lessons and can’t wait to get to teach them during university! My favourite skill to teach is floats and glides since kids and their parents are always so proud and happy when they complete it. My favourite swimming stroke is front crawl because I like how powerful and fast I am at it.

Some fun facts about me are my birthday is Christmas Day, I can swim 25 m of front crawl without taking a breath, and I’ve ran a half marathon before.

Allison B.

Instructor

In my spare time, I enjoy going on runs with my dog, gardening, and playing sports. Currently I am attending Brandon University to complete my bachelor’s of science and I am an active player on the Bobcats Women’s Soccer team.

I have taught a variety of swimming lessons and coached our local swim team at the Neepawa Swimming Pool over the past 5 years. I love watching my swimmers progress and grow their confidence in the water.

My favourite skill to teach is a back float. It’s very exciting when the skill finally clicks and opens the door for so many different swims.

Some fun facts about me are that I grew up on a farm, have 2 older sisters, and I am a cycling/spin instructor.

Dana L.

Instructor

I have been working in aquatics since 2019 as both a lifeguard and swim instructor. I began my aquatics journey in Dauphin, and it has taken me all the way to British Columbia. I love working with swimmers of all ages and abilities, whether they are getting comfortable in the water for the first time or working on more advanced skills. My favourite part of instructing is watching a swimmer’s confidence grow and seeing how excited they are when something they have been working on finally clicks!

My favourite skill to teach is breaststroke because I love the timing and coordination involved. It is so rewarding to break the stroke down and then watch everything come together when a swimmer finds the rhythm between the pull, breathe, kick, and glide.

My time in aquatics is what led me to pursue a career in education. Through teaching swimming lessons, I discovered how much I enjoy helping others learn, build their confidence, and finding different ways to explain a skill until it makes sense. I completed my Bachelor of Arts at Brandon University in 2025 and am currently completing my Bachelor of Education with the goal of becoming a high school teacher.

When I am not at the pool or in the classroom, you can find me in the kitchen or on a backcountry trail. I love cooking and trying new recipes, and I enjoy living an active lifestyle. In the winter, Pilates and spin classes are some of my favourite ways to stay active. In the summer, I love to hike, camp, travel, and explore new places whenever I get the chance!
